The SMB (Small and Medium Business) team contributes directly to this mission by connecting every small business in the world with their customers on Facebook and helping them grow through solutions like pages, advertising, and messaging. We succeed when we help our customers grow their business.
The SMB team at Facebook is one of two sales channels responsible for Facebook’s multi-billion-dollar advertising business. Our team specifically manages more than 99% of Facebook’s 6 million advertisers. And our potential business is even larger with more than 70 million active business pages on Facebook. We’re just getting started.
This is an exciting time at Facebook as understanding advertisers is more important than ever. This role will be responsible for designing, executing and delivering high-impact research to influence SMB's strategies in sales, marketing, and service. The ideal candidate is experienced in quantitative and qualitative research, data driven, and passionate about helping advertisers be successful on Facebook and grow their business.
This is a full-time position based in our Menlo Park HQ.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute custom centric research to support the objectives of various SMB teams, including sales, marketing, and service.
- Understand KPI’s of different SMB teams and influence tier strategies through quantitative and qualitative research
- Represent the voice of SMB advertisers to internal teams — e.g., what help/support do advertisers want from us? how do advertisers feel about existing programs?
- Develop insights (quantitative/qualitative) using a variety of internal and external sources
- Work closely with SMB teams to identify and scope research topics
- Design studies that address both advertiser behaviors and attitudes
- Employ creative and innovative research methods to understand advertiser needs
- Apply your expertise in survey design, quantitative analysis, and data mining to derive insights to show value or uncover missed opportunities
- Package these insights effectively and deliver them to SMB stakeholders and leadership team
Minimum Qualifications
- Advanced degree in social sciences, economics, statistics, applied mathematics, operations research, or similar quantitative field
- Experience in statistics including experimental design, sampling approaches, statistical testing, modeling, and data mining techniques
- Experience writing survey questions and using survey authoring platforms (e.g. Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, etc.)
- Experience in applied research with focus areas such as operation research, consumer behavior or marketing
- Experience building analytical models and working with structured and unstructured data sets
- Experience in the languages of data manipulation (e.g. SQL) and statistical analysis (R or similar)
- Working experience in combining quantitative findings with qualitative research data and recommending actions
- Experience in communicating analysis and results to any audience, including non-technical audiences
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years experience in a quantitative field, such as consulting, market research, etc.
- Knowledge of advertising
- Experience working with or in support of diverse communities
