Dear All,

Department of Applied Social Sciences of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is organizing The 8th International Postgraduate Students Conference on the theme of State-Society Relations: Strategies to Improve Social Stability and Public Trust, to be held on 27 - 28 August 2018 (Monday & Tuesday) at PolyU.

This two-day conference will tackle issues regarding (but are not limited to): State-Society Relations; Party-State Responses; NGOs and Civil Society; Participatory Governance; Social Movements; Voting and Elections; Social Media; Rural Development and Disaster Risk Management.

I take great pleasure to cordially invite you to submit the abstract of your research article through email to jiachen.liang@connect.polyu.hk or/and giulia.cuini@connect.polyu.hk by 31 May 2018 and attend the Postgraduate Students Conference at PolyU on 27 - 28 August 2018. Please be noted that the abstract can also be from a research proposal or work in progress or assignment/term paper. Both published and unpublished abstracts are accepted.

For this conference, we have invited two distinguished guest speakers, Professor Christian Göbel from University of Vienna and Professor Harold D. Clarke from University of Texas at Dallas, who will tackle the issue of State-Society relations in authoritative and democratic regimes and engage students in workshops to discuss the research methods.
